Chet's surgery

So, Chet had a pretty big surgery, which he is still healing from. He has had ankle problems for quite some time now. He played a lot of sports in high school and rolled his ankles all of the time.He even broke an ankle a couple times. He has had surgery in the past. Well last year he started golfing all of the time (if everyday is considered all of the time) and his ankles started to hurt again. He went to the doctor and found the root of all of this. His right heal isn't centered and his ankle has a tendency to lean another way, which makes it roll very easy. So in December they cut the heal in half, realigned the heal and put in two huge screw to hold it together. The also had to fix his tendon since it's has been damaged so many times. The tendon was actually just hanging there. He was in a cast for almost a month and a boot for another 2 weeks. He is still healing and just barely able to put pressure on. Well here are some pictures right after surgery and now. He also had a huge incision on his heal but the pictures are kinda gross on that one so I won't post those.

Marriage

Brooke- " I want you to want to do dishes!"
Gary- " Why would I want to do dishes?"

I love this movie, this quote sums it up. This just makes me laugh.

One day at a time

So far my new years resolution has been hard to do. I find myself having to slow myself down, but once I do I really do enjoy the small things. I have been able to become a little more organized with my time. That's one reason I like working and going to school, you have to make your time worthwhile. Overall, by slowing myself down I can actually enjoy life one day at a time.
I really enjoy my Humanities class this semester. We only meet once a week but I have a great professor and the classroom environment is fun. I feel like this class is actually worthwhile and not just a requirement for my degree. It's the kind of class that makes you want to become something worthwhile. I look forward to this class each week.

The Bachelor

Ok so I have never watched the Bachelor before, but I finally did ..... and I am hooked! Now I know why everyone else watches it. It must be the drama in it. It's fun

On another note! Dexter is both one of mine and Chet's favorites shows. I know it's late in posting about it, but WOW! The season finale was such a shocker! I was devasted! I still have a hard time thinking about it!

Sigh

This semester is a sigh of relief and for many reasons..... the main one being I graduate!! YAY!

Last semester was the toughest semester I have had... and I have had quite a few semesters! It wasn't only school, it was everything! I certainly learned a lot about myself though. Luckily I have such a supportive husband and parents who even comfort me when I am at my lowest.

I have changed what I am doing with my life.... I am still graduating with my degree in May, but I have decided I want to be an elementary school teacher. So this semester I feel like I am starting over again. I had enough time to take some pre-requisites for the education department while finishing up my degree. So I am starting at the bottom again... it's wierd. I am one of the oldest in some of my classes. I even have a class with my little sister's friend. Everyone says no one will notice since I still look eighteen. Which by the way, now that I am getting older I now see the benefit of looking young. ( I always hated that)

I think I probably took on a little too much this semester but I am giving it my best effort! As long as I don't have one particular teacher, I will be just fine.

Also at the end of May, Chet and I are going to Hawaii!! A nice graduation trip, and it's free from Chet's work! We don't go on vacations, the only one we have been on is our honeymoon and we don't take much time off to be together so this will be nice. Thanks Chet!

Wow how time flies! Today I started taking down my Christmas decorations. I was waiting until the last minute since I didn't want it to end. Chet just has surgery on his heel and ankle on the 18th so he has been in a cast and on crutches the past couple weeks. He will be in his cast for another month or so and then a walking boot. So there isn't much he can do to help so that's another reason I just started taking the decorations down. I will admit I find myself listening to some Christmas music here and there still. Christmas was a nice quiet one, but went by too quick. Our wonderful Christmas started on Christmas Eve morning when I got to award my mom with the local radio station the "extreme make-over package" as I previously posted about. Chet and I met some of Sharee's friends and my family at my parents house to surprise my mom with the award. She was shocked and surprised, but I still don't think it's hit her yet as to how much she really won!
We always have a nice dinner on Christmas Eve which my mom does an awesome job preparing! Chet and I spent the night at my parents house and spent Christmas day just hanging out.
Now, it's a new year and I don't want this year to be whisked away as quickly as last year. So my New Year's Resolution is to take things slow... enjoy life one day at a time. Find joy in every day. With school, work, and family it is so easy to get caught up in the rush of life. I finally realized how quickly I run my life when I was walking down an aisle in the store and a little 3 yr old told her mom, "Wow that girl is walking fast!" I wasn't in a hurry, just my normal pace. It seems like my whole life is like that though. I feel last year was taken for granted. In order for me to enjoy it I have also made a resolution to take a camera with me more often and actually take pictures!
